Book Review: The 10X Rule – The Only Difference Between Success and Failure

I listened to the version of Grant Cardone’s most popular book, the 10X Rule, in the voice of its highly energized, tell-it-like-it-is author. I like the central message of the content that Cardone creates. Namely, there are no shortcuts. Working hard and working smart are essential ingredients for dominating your competition.

The most salient insight I gained from the 10X Rule is that the way to ensure success is not to “give 110% effort.” The way to be successful is to give 1000% of the effort (10X the effort) you estimated would be required to make your plans a success.

If your new business needs 10 clients to make it, and you calculate that it should take 10 sales appointments to land one client, 10 cold calls to get one appointment, don’t just plan on making 1,000 cold calls to set 100 appointments. Plan on having to make 10,000 calls to get the 100 appointments needed to fill your new firm’s sales pipeline.

Whatever the effort you believe it will require to realize your dream… 10X it! If you want the dream enough, you will. If not, Cardone would advise you to find a different dream, one that will energize you to put in 10X the effort you think you will need to make it happen.
