Texas Gold Media Kit Letter Asks Prospective Advertisers a Simple Question

When I worked with the Austin American-Statesman’s Texas Gold direct mail magazine, I wrote a media kit letter that ended up being utilized by the entire sales team. In a “Johnson Box” consisting of header and footer asterisk lines was the question that Texas Gold’s ideal clients would answer in the affirmative: Do you EXPECT your advertising to PAY FOR ITSELF?

Coupon advertisers track ROI and expect their ads to bring in sales to cover their advertising investment. This letter spoke directly to their hearts and checkbooks, and it consistently drove inquiries and orders for the Statesman’s direct mail magazine division where I worked as an Account Executive.
